Champ Tours Founder Dan Champ Announces Grand Slam Heritage Tour for Sun City Roseville Travelers
Roseville, California-based travel company expands its offerings for active seniors with a seven-day baseball experience featuring Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and visits to New York City, Cooperstown, and Boston.
ROSEVILLE, CA, October 29, 2026 -- Champ Tours, a California-based group travel company founded by Dan Champ, is introducing a new baseball-themed travel experience for members of the Sun City Roseville Travel Club. The Grand Slam Heritage Tour, scheduled for May 13–19, 2027, will take participants through New York City, Cooperstown, and Boston, combining Major League Baseball games, historic ballpark tours, and visits to some of the country's most recognizable cultural destinations.
The announcement marks another expansion of Champ Tours' offerings for active senior travelers. Following the company's previous collaboration with the Sun City Roseville Travel Club on a Broadway-themed trip to New York City, the club has invited Champ Tours to develop another group travel experience for its members.
This time, the focus will be on America's pastime.
"Baseball has a history that goes well beyond what happens on the field," said Dan Champ, founder of Champ Tours. "For a lot of people, the sport brings back memories of watching games with family, following their favorite teams, or visiting a ballpark for the first time. We wanted to create a trip that brings those experiences together while giving travelers the opportunity to explore some remarkable places."
A Baseball Experience Across Three Historic Destinations
The seven-day Grand Slam Heritage Tour will begin in New York City, where participants will enjoy guided sightseeing before attending a New York Yankees game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Yankee Stadium.
From there, the group will travel to Cooperstown, New York, home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Travelers will have an opportunity to explore the museum's exhibits and collections, which document the players, teams, and memorable moments that have shaped professional baseball.
The itinerary also includes an overnight stay at the historic Otesaga Resort Hotel in Cooperstown, offering participants time to enjoy the village and its surroundings.
The tour will then continue to Boston, where travelers will attend a Boston Red Sox game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Fenway Park.
As the oldest active Major League Baseball ballpark, Fenway Park offers a distinctive setting for visitors interested in both the sport and its history. The group will also take a behind-the-scenes tour of the stadium, offering a closer look at one of baseball's most recognizable venues.
Additional Boston activities include a visit to Quincy Market and a Boston Duck Tour, allowing travelers to experience the city's historic neighborhoods and landmarks from both land and water.
Upon returning to New York City, participants will take an official behind-the-scenes tour of Yankee Stadium, including Monument Park and displays celebrating the team's championship history.
Optional evening activities include a Broadway performance or a New York Mets game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field.
The final day will offer additional sightseeing opportunities before the group returns to California.
Expanding Travel Opportunities for Active Seniors
The Grand Slam Heritage Tour builds on an existing relationship between Champ Tours and the Sun City Roseville Travel Club.
Champ's involvement in senior group travel grew after his father, Art, suggested adapting the company's Broadway experiences for older adults interested in organized cultural travel.
That idea led to a Broadway Experience for 23 travelers from the Sun City Roseville Travel Club, including three participants who were 86.
The experience showed the potential to develop additional trips around the interests of active senior travelers.
"One of the things I've learned from organizing group travel is that people have very different interests, regardless of their age," Champ explained. "Some travelers love theater, others enjoy history, and some have followed baseball for most of their lives. The opportunity to develop another trip with the Sun City Roseville Travel Club allows us to offer something different while building on a relationship that has already been successful."
Champ believes themed travel can be particularly appealing because it brings together people who share an interest while introducing them to experiences they might not otherwise arrange on their own.
For the Grand Slam Heritage Tour, that means combining professional baseball games with opportunities to explore the history, architecture, and cultural significance of the cities involved.
Bringing More Than 20 Years of Group Travel Experience to a New Itinerary
Champ has spent more than two decades coordinating educational and cultural group travel throughout the United States and internationally.
His experience includes organizing visits to major destinations such as New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., with an emphasis on structured itineraries, group coordination, and opportunities for meaningful sightseeing.
He founded Champ Tours in 2024 to continue developing travel experiences for groups with different interests and needs.
Although baseball represents a new theme for the company's senior travel offerings, the planning approach remains consistent with its existing services.
"Putting together a trip like this involves much more than securing baseball tickets," Champ said. "We have to consider transportation between cities, hotel locations, the timing of games and tours, and how much activity makes sense in a single day. The goal is to create an experience where travelers can enjoy the destinations without having to manage all those arrangements themselves."
The Grand Slam Heritage Tour includes round-trip air transportation, deluxe motorcoach transfers, hotel accommodations, scheduled sightseeing activities, baseball experiences, and meals as outlined in the itinerary.
Registration Opens for May 2027 Departure
The Grand Slam Heritage Tour is scheduled for May 13–19, 2027, with pricing beginning at $4,599 per person for double occupancy and $4,999 per person for single occupancy.
A $300 non-refundable deposit is required by December 1, 2026, to secure a reservation. The remaining balance may be paid through monthly installments, with final payment due March 14, 2027.
Champ Tours will present the itinerary to members of the Sun City Roseville Travel Club on October 26, 2026.
For Champ, the new offering is an opportunity to expand the types of experiences available through his company while maintaining its focus on organized group travel.
"Not every traveler is looking for the same experience, and that's what makes developing these trips interesting," Champ said. "I'm excited about the opportunity to bring baseball fans together for a week that combines the excitement of the games with the history and character of these cities."
