From Cookbooks to GLP-1s: Podcasting Pioneer Suzy Chase Makes an Unexpected Pivot

After two decades of creating niche lifestyle audio, the longtime cookbook podcaster turns to the overlooked world of GLP-1 maintenance.

NEW YORK, NY, October 23, 2026 -- For years, Suzy Chase made a career out of talking about food. She interviewed cookbook authors, explored the stories behind recipes, and built an audience around cooking and entertaining.

Then she lost 50 pounds on a GLP-1 medication. Now she's taking that conversation in an unexpected direction.

Chase, whose podcasts have reached 8 million lifetime downloads, hosts Dinner Party on a GLP-1, a podcast about what happens after the weight comes off. In August, Apple Podcasts featured it on its front page in New Seasons.

From music to cookbooks to GLP-1s Chase founded The Groove Radio in 2005, the original mixtape podcast. In 2015 she launched Cookery by the Book, interviewing cookbook authors about the stories behind their recipes. In 2021 she brought the same approach to interiors with Decorating by the Book.

Every show followed the same pattern. Find an underserved conversation. Build audio around it.

"I spent years talking about food through cookbooks and the people who write them," says Chase. "Now I'm talking about what happens when your relationship with food changes completely."

The story doesn't end at goal weight.

The GLP-1 conversation has centered on losing weight. Access. Side effects. The number on the scale.

Chase found that goal weight raised new questions.

What happens when the scale stops being the measure of success? Where do strength and recovery fit? How does identity change after a major transformation?

Those questions are the foundation of the show. Two years into maintenance, Chase answers them through her own experience, personal storytelling, and conversations with others living on GLP-1 medications.

"Everyone wants to talk about losing the weight," says Chase. "I'm interested in what happens after. Maintenance isn't the finish line. It's an entirely new chapter."

Finding the next niche in audio.

Long before niche podcasts defined the medium, Chase was building shows for audiences united by specific interests. The instinct still works. Dinner Party on a GLP-1 launched in May 2026. Podnews covered its Summer School series in July. Yahoo Health has interviewed Chase twice.

"Podcasting has always given me the freedom to follow a conversation wherever it leads," says Chase. "I started with music, moved into cookbooks and interior design, and now GLP-1 maintenance. The subjects change, but the instinct is the same: find a conversation worth having and give it a place to live."

With Dinner Party on a GLP-1, Chase is betting the next chapter of the GLP-1 story isn't about how people lose weight. It's about how they live afterward.
