Nicolet Law Launches College Scholarship Video Essay Contest for Midwest Students
The biannual scholarship program awards $5,000 to support higher education across four states.

HUDSON, WI, May 21, 2026 -- Nicolet Law announces the launch of its College Scholarship Video Essay Contest, a biannual initiative designed to support deserving students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees across the Midwest.
Since 2020, the Midwest personal injury law firm has awarded $5,000 twice annually to students who demonstrate academic achievement, thoughtfulness, and a commitment to their communities.
"Education opens doors," said Russel D. Nicolet, President of Nicolet Law. "We want to be part of that journey for students who are working hard, thinking deeply about their futures, and ready to pursue their career goals."
The scholarship contest invites full-time undergraduate and graduate students—including international students—at accredited U.S. colleges and universities to submit 5 to 8-minute YouTube video essays.
For 2026, applicants are invited to respond to: "Describe an ethical challenge you have faced. What was your approach to resolving it?" Previous prompts are also accepted, allowing students flexibility in how they approach the submission.
All areas of study are welcome with no restrictions. Applicants must be in good academic standing, and students who applied previously are eligible to reapply after one year, including past recipients.
Video essay submissions must include the applicant's name, area of study, academic institution, and an original, creative response to the chosen prompt. Submissions are judged based on thoughtfulness, clarity, originality, and the strength of the applicant's perspective.
Nicolet Law chose the video essay format because it allows students to express themselves authentically. A video essay lets students show who they are, not just tell it through written words. The format rewards creative thinking, public speaking skills, and the ability to communicate complex ideas accessibly.
Applications are accepted year-round, with submission deadlines of May 1st for the fall scholarship and October 1st for the spring scholarship. Recipients will be notified via email, and scholarship checks will be sent to the financial aid office of the student's academic institution. Proof of enrollment is required.
Previous scholarship recipients are advancing work in nonprofit sectors, healthcare, and law, demonstrating the impact of educational support on community leaders and changemakers. The most recent Spring 2026 Nicolet Scholarship Recipient, Ronald Allen Hooper noted:
"This investment not only brings me closer to earning my degree but also fuels my mission to make kindness an active and transformative force in our communities. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kindness!"
