Andrew Van Ness Awarded $2,500 Law School Scholarship from The Law Place

The University of Florida graduate will take the award into his time at Florida State University.

SARASOTA, FL, May 17, 2022 -- Andrew Van Ness' essay on his legal hero, Professor Samuel Stafford, earned him the Law School Scholarship from The Law Place. Van Ness receives $2,500 toward the pursuit of his law degree at Florida State University.

As the central figure in Van Ness' essay, Professor Samuel Stafford looms large. Van Ness credits his instructor with igniting within him a passion for the law and for civil liberty. Not only was this due to his rigorous but rewarding coursework, but also his decision to take students like Van Ness on a tour through the local jail.

"Professor Stafford gave me the opportunity to peek through a small hole and have a sense of what I am sure many attorneys feel on a weekly basis," writes Van Ness. "Over the course of 3 semesters, or roughly 500 days, Professor Stafford opened my mind to a whole new world of legal interpretation."

Andrew Van Ness graduated from the University of Florida, where he majored in Economics. He is now pursuing a law degree from Florida State University and has been selected as a member of FSU's Trial Team. He is a member of the LitiGATORS club, which is designed to assist the transition from the University of Florida to the FSU College of Law.

When interviewed by representatives of The Law Place, Van Ness was clear about his future goals. "Currently, I am focusing on all things litigation, with a special interest in Civil Litigation and Real Estate," he said. "I am pursuing a Business Law Certificate along with my juris doctor, and plan to graduate in May of 2024."
