The United Nations accepts KAILASA's recommendations and publishes its report on Gender Justice and Freedom of Opinion and Expression

KAILASA's recommendations on tackling the challenges that women face, offline and online, were accepted and published by the United Nations' Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of freedom of opinion and expression

LOS ANGELES, CA, November 23, 2021 -- Development in technology is evolving and progressing rapidly today towards a digital era. It has influenced the way we live, work, and interact with the world. With AI and technological evolution, comes a disturbing breach of privacy, infringements on gender rights, and violence.. While the digital world has made profound transformation and benefited humanity, its impact also results in endangering the safety of individuals, especially women and girls. Women are disproportionately affected by gender-based violence, discrimination, and many other challenges.

The UN Special Rapporteur report, presented to the 76th session of the General Assembly, is the first report in the 27 years' history of the mandate to be devoted exclusively to the challenges that women face in exercising their freedom of opinion and expression. Submissions to the mandate included from Member States of the UN, NGOs and Civil Society Organizations, individuals, and academics and universities Worldwide. Kailash Union has given recommendations to address the challenges that women face online and offline.

The Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism His Divine Holiness Bhagavan Nithyananda Paramashivam, the Sovereign of the Sovereign State of SHRIKAILASA (KAILASA), having its foundation rooted in the universal cosmic truths as declared in Hindu scriptures, strongly advocates for gender equality and the rights of women, members of the LGBTQ+ and transgendered communities. Rejecting extremism of all types,

Women and girls of the indigenous Adi Shaivite minority tradition (ASMT) of KAILASA have been the most vulnerable target of weaponization of sexual violence, public shaming, hate speech, and defamation in India through extremism and media corruption. However, targeting Hindu females, nuns, and female religious leaders are not limited to the ASMT but also aimed at destroying the Guru disciple lineage and persecuting their spiritual leader, the SPH Nithyananda Paramashivam.

There are many instances of attacks against the women of the ASMT, in particular on the female monks who fell victim to image morphing, deepfake technology, multiple forms of discrimination involving the corrupt media, other forms of smear campaigns, and hate speech propaganda as mentioned in the report. Despite multiple forensic examinations and investigations made to prove fabrication of morphed videos, the government and state departments offered no protection as the mainstream media and social media influencers continue to telecast and pump out misinformation propaganda to date.

It is unfortunate that legal recourse outside India is inaccessible to most women and girls. Deepfake technology is a terrifying and gender security issue for women today because they are used as weapons for revenge and starting to become more accessible and prevalent in this era. A 2019 Adult Online Hate, Harassment and Abuse report from the UK lists six types of image-based sexual violence, defining this type of abuse as "sexual photoshopping." KAILASA made several recommendations in the report for creating an enabling environment and safe digital space for inclusiveness, peace, democracy, and sustainable development.
