[Pangyo Tech] Gyeonggi-do's Smart Mobility Feasibility Hub was acknowledged by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety

The Smart Mobility Feasibility Hub project is to build a feasibility test bed for autonomous cars, robots and drones with EV recharging facility.

    LOS ANGELES, CA, July 21, 2021 -- Gyeonggido government announced on the 15th that its Smart Mobility Feasibility Hub project is selected for Regionally Balanced New Deal contest program of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety securing 3 billion won of special grant. The Smart Mobility Feasibility Hub is planned to be built in the 2nd Pangyo Techno-valley in the province.

The Regionally Balanced New Deal contest program is designed for identifying exemplary projects where local communities can feel the difference. The contest program aims to speed up projects for nationally balanced development and make their results more practical. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety held the contest from March 24th and selected 15 cases.

The Smart Mobility Feasibility Hub project is to build a feasibility test bed for autonomous cars, robots and drones with EV recharging facility. The test bed will be a five-story building in 1,010㎡land in the 2nd Pangyo Techno-valley. Gyeonggi government plans to invest 20.6 billion won over the three-year-period from 2021 to complete the construction in December 2023.

The test bed will be equipped with various equipment including self-driving simulator, 3D position tracking system, 5G communication equipment for feasibility test of various self-driving technologies. The hub will also nurture smart mobility companies and help relevant startups to be launched.

The province established Gyeonggi Autonomous Driving Center and has conducted feasibility tests for Zero Shuttle, an autonomous shuttle bus, in a real-life city environment, helped launching of relevant startups, nurtured them and opened relevant data it has.

The provincial government also secured a project of the AI Technology Feasibility Testbed program of the Ministry of Science and ICT on April. The Smart Mobility Feasibility Hub is expected to be linked to the program and contribute to the development of relevant industries and job creation.
