Atlanta Community Food Bank and Norfolk Southern Celebrate 10 Years of Partnership to Combat Hunger

More than 2.7 million meals raised over a decade

ATLANTA, GA, September 29, 2022 -- The Atlanta Community Food Bank announced today that it received a $50,000 grant from Norfolk Southern Corporation (NYSE: NSC). The funds will support local efforts to combat food insecurity and assist those in need throughout metro Atlanta and North Georgia. This latest set of grants from Norfolk Southern builds on the company's long-standing commitment of giving to critical community organizations across its network.

"We are incredibly honored to have the support and partnership of Norfolk Southern. Our longstanding relationship that has spanned over a decade has made huge impacts in the fight against hunger," said Kyle Waide, President & CEO of the Atlanta Community Food Bank. "We look forward to strengthening our relationship in the coming years as we remain focused on providing much-needed food assistance for our neighbors struggling to make ends meet."

Over the past 10 years, Norfolk Southern has contributed more than $670,000 to the Atlanta Community Food Bank. These funds equate to more than 2.7 million meals for those who are struggling with hunger.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), more than 34 million people in the country, including 9 million children, are food insecure. Many households that experience food insecurity do not qualify for federal nutrition programs and visit their local food banks and other food programs for extra support.

"Every community is home to families impacted by food insecurity. Norfolk Southern is furthering its partnership with more than 30 food banks to feed and assist those in need," said Kristin Wong, director of corporate giving at Norfolk Southern.
