Fabric hires Econophysics PhD for Senior Risk Modeling Role

New researcher will manage and expand firm's agent-based models

BOULDER, CO, December 01, 2021 -- Fabric, an institutional-grade risk management software provider for financial advisors and their clients, announced Dhruv Sharma has joined as model researcher. Sharma recently received a doctorate in statistical physics from Ecole Normale Superieure under the guidance of Profs. Jean-Philippe Bouchaud and Francesco Zamponi. With a background at the intersection of physics and economics, he will manage and expand Fabric's agent-based models.

"Dhruv is a game changer for Fabric in the risk management space, as he is one of only a few researchers able to apply expertise in physics to agent-based models in finance," said Govinda Quish, Fabric Co-Founder and CEO. "With his rare combination of three qualifications – training in the theoretical foundation of agent-based models, practical expertise in building agent-based models for economic scenarios, and exceptional applied math and physics skills – he will use an interdisciplinary approach to advance our understanding of how markets act after significant events."

Before joining Fabric, Sharma researched the application of statistical physics to agent-based modeling under the guidance of Bouchaud, who employs agent-based models in financial markets and other applications.

Agent-based approaches model the complex dynamics and time variation in market risk by capturing the behavior and feedback across the range of market participants.
