2019 Mega Deals Represent $7 Billion in Spend with Minority-Owned Businesses

Dallas/Fort Worth Minority Supplier Development Council Recognizes 13 Mega Deals

DALLAS, TX, December 03, 2019 -- At the recent The Dallas/Fort Worth Minority Supplier Diversity Council E Awards Gala, the Council recognized thirteen Mega Deals that had been accomplished by AT&T, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and PepsiCo. These 13 Mega Deals represented $7 billion in spend with D/FW MSDC certified ethnic minority-owned businesses.

Mega Deals are defined as any contract in the amount of at least $25 million or more for business performed in or completed and paid in a year, between a certified D/FW MSDC Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and a Buying Entity Member (corporation or public sector agency).

AT&T had a total of nine 2019 Mega Deals. Their MBE partners were Argent Associates, Asociar, Diamond P Enterprises, Group O, LinkAmerica, LogistiCorp Wholesale Trade LLC. Pinnacle Group, SHI International and World Wide Technology. DART had a Mega Deal with Omega Contracting. PepsiCo's two Mega Deals were with Group O and Universal Concepts.

"The D/FW MSDC focus has not wavered since its inception," said Margo J. Posey, CEO/President of the Dallas/Fort Worth Minority Supplier Development Council. "We are about helping to build sustainable minority-owned businesses that can fulfill the opportunities of our Buying Entity Members and their supply chain needs. This requires developing minority business capacity through facilitating connections for business opportunities that challenge and grow minority-owned companies."

Mega Deals were first recognized by the Council in 2008. The awards were created to demonstrate the growth of minority business capacity and the breadth of minority business solutions to meet the needs of our Buying Entity Members. The MBEs with these sizable contracts are able to demonstrate excellence in their business by implementing strong business operations, continuous improvement models, innovative solutions and secure financial risk management. Not all minority businesses are small and each year the Mega Deals demonstrate just how scalable MBEs can perform large contracts at an exceptional operational level.

The D/FW MSDC congratulates all the participants of the Mega Deals Awards and challenges more Buying Entities to think BIG in terms of working with and delivering sustainable contractual opportunities to minority-owned businesses.

For more than 45 years, the Council has focused on its mission of connecting corporations and public sector agencies with certified ethnic minority businesses. From an initial spend of $1 million with minority businesses in 1973, the Council has grown to verified spend with certified ethnic minority businesses headquartered in North Texas to a reported $25.2 billion. This represents 939 D/FW MSDC certified minority-owned businesses and more than 55,776 jobs maintained/created by the minority businesses.
