#CancelBillionaires Campaign Launched to Reduce Inequality and Stop Climate Change

Propose Presidential executive order for 100% tax on billionaires.

CHICAGO, IL, December 03, 2019 -- A new grassroots citizen campaign called #CancelBillionaires was launched today. The Campaign believes the social, economic, and political instability created by growing inequality and climate change makes them national security issues. To solve these problems the campaign proposes a 100% tax on all wealth above $999 million.

The campaign hopes to achieve its goal by raising public pressure on billionaires and persuading the next President of the United States to take executive action, in the name of national security, to implement the tax. The new tax would eliminate all billionaires within the United States and use their wealth to stop runaway climate change and reduce crippling inequality.

In 2019 there were over 600 billionaires in the United States with combined wealth over $3.1 trillion. With the $2.5 trillion a 100% tax would provide, climate change and inequality could be solved while looming civil unrest and financial turmoil could be prevented.

The tagline of the campaign is "They Can Get By On $999 Million". This emphasizes how billionaires would still be incredibly wealthy with $999 million in net worth. Once inequality and Climate Change were solved, the 100% tax could be modified.

Former Chicago Public Schools Special Education teacher Michael Dobbins started the campaign. Dobbins is no stranger to activism, having created a citizen led campaign and written the book Stop Bush in 2004: How Every Citizen Can Help to defeat then President Bush.

"National security issues demand government intervention. Drastic measures are necessary during times of crisis. Billionaires have the money to solve inequality and climate change. It's time for a 100% tax. If people stand together, we can force the next President to implement it. The fabric of our society literally depends on it." Dobbins said.

Citizens interested in getting involved or who wish to learn more are encouraged to visit the campaign's website www.CancelBillionaires.com where they can join the email list and receive news on future actions the campaign will take.
