WILLOW GROVE, PA, June 19, 2019 -- It may be summer, but the Institute for Supply Management is not taking a vacation from promoting supply chain education. Throughout the next several months, ISM's New Jersey chapter will sponsor a series of webinars hosted by area thought leaders. On July 17th, Source One Director Jennifer Ulrich will present End-to-End Supplier Relationship Management: Driving Value through Segmentation.
As Procurement departments evolve, so do the obstacles and risk factors they face. "That's why," says Ulrich, "it's so crucial for the function to engage the supply base strategically and build strong, adaptable partnerships. I hope my presentation will encourage attendees to stop thinking of vendor engagement as a necessary evil and start viewing it as a valuable opportunity."
Ulrich also hopes to advise ISM members against taking a one-size-fits-all approach to managing their supply base. The supply base, she suggests, is best addressed through supplier segmentation. "Strategic, Essential, Commodity, and Transactional suppliers each require a unique approach. Engaged effectively, they'll each also provide their own unique kind of value."
Recognized throughout the industry as an authority on Procurement Transformation and Category Management, Ulrich has previously shared insights at JAGGAER's REV conference and a number of ISM-Philadelphia events. She will call upon these experiences as well as more than a decade of successful procurement optimization initiatives to outline the benefits of strategic supplier engagement.
