Logotech Donation to Help Area Children Prepare for Kindergarten
Logotech 4 Good gives a $500 grant of branded promotional products to one deserving school, educational or nonprofit organization selected by the company each month.
PALATINE, IL, February 06, 2019 -- Promoting its mission of getting children ready for Kindergarten, the Elgin Partnership for Early Learning is set to hand out 100 PopSockets to parents printed with visual reminders of how to do that.
The PopSockets – printed in either English or Spanish – were made possible via a donation from Palatine-based Logotech. EPEL was picked in January as the first-ever Logotech-4-Good recipient. The program gives a $500 grant of branded promotional products to one deserving school, educational or nonprofit organization selected by the company each month.
An official donation hand-off event is set for 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Blue Kangaroo Laundry, 464 Summit St., Elgin. Parents of preschool aged children interested in receiving a free PopSocket are invited to attend and learn more about the program.
The popular mobile device grips are imprinted with the "Talk – Play – Read – Do – Write … Give Me Five!" handprint logo used by Elgin Area School District U46's Give Me Five for Early Learning to encourage parents and caregivers to do those actions with children each day.
The EPEL has been working with the school district, Gail Borden Public Library District, United Way of Elgin and area laundromats to promote the program. Parents are encouraged to use the time while laundry is running to work with children on reading and other skills.
It was EPEL's community integration and proximity to the company that made it the right fit for the first Logotech-4-Good donation. Logotech was also able to work with its PopSocket provider to bring the product in under budget and print them in two languages.
"We believe charity begins at home and it was important to kick off this program by picking a local organization," said Nikita Nersesov, Logotech cofounder. Palatine, where Logotech is located, is just 20 minutes from Elgin and even closer to several other towns within the school district.
